SSC CGL / CHSL / MTS / GD photo & signature — exact size, ready to upload
Since 2024 SSC captures your photo live through the webcam inside the form, so the file you prepare is the signature: JPEG, 10–20 KB, about 4 × 2 cm, black ink on white paper. ExamPic cleans a phone photo of the signature into a scan-like image and lands it in the 10–20 KB window. The photo preset is kept for older SSC forms and other portals that still take uploads.
What the SSC CGL / CHSL / MTS / GD portal checks
- Signature: JPEG, 10–20 KB, roughly 4 × 2 cm (some notices say 6 × 2 cm — the KB window is what the portal enforces), black ink, white paper, full signature in running hand
- Photo: live webcam capture in the OTR — plain background, no cap/mask/spectacles, face centred; photographing a printed photo is a rejection
- Aadhaar-verified candidates are exempt from photo/signature rejection
- Rotated or dark live captures fail camera detection — sit facing a window, hold the phone upright
Sizes on this page follow the latest published guidance and exam-prep consensus; the portal's own notification for your cycle always wins — type its numbers into the tool if they differ.
How to do it
- Pick the tab for the file you need — the size and KB window are set for you.
- Select the image from your phone. For photos, a plain white wall behind you; for signatures, thumbs and declarations, white paper in daylight.
- Leave Clean on so the paper turns pure white and the ink stays dark.
- Press Make it. The badge turns green when the file is inside the window. Download, then use the "Next" links for the other files.
Questions
Can ExamPic help with the live photo?
Not with the capture itself — it must be live. Use the rejection checker afterwards if the portal shows an error on a downloaded copy.
My signature scan is 8 KB.
SSC rejects under 10 KB. ExamPic pads the file to land inside 10–20 KB without changing the pixels.
