UPSC CSE / ESE / CDS / NDA photo & signature — exact size, ready to upload
UPSC is the strictest portal in the country: a JPG photo of 20–300 KB with your name and the date printed on it, not older than 10 days from the day applications open, and a "triple signature" — three identical signatures stacked vertically in one 20–100 KB image. ExamPic builds both.
What the UPSC CSE / ESE / CDS / NDA portal checks
- Photo JPG only, 20–300 KB, roughly 350–400 px square, face about 75% of the frame ("3/4th space"), plain light background
- Name and the date of the photo printed on the image — the portal rejects photos without it
- Photo taken within 10 days of the notification date; your appearance at Prelims, Mains and interview must match it (beard, spectacles, moustache)
- Signature: three identical signatures one below the other in a single JPG, black ink, white paper, 20–100 KB
- The portal detects real file headers — a PNG renamed to .jpg is rejected; 1 KB outside the range is rejected
Sizes on this page follow the latest published guidance and exam-prep consensus; the portal's own notification for your cycle always wins — type its numbers into the tool if they differ.
How to do it
- Pick the tab for the file you need — the size and KB window are set for you.
- Select the image from your phone. For photos, a plain white wall behind you; for signatures, thumbs and declarations, white paper in daylight.
- Type your name and the date of the photo — ExamPic prints them under the face, inside the image.
- Press Make it. The badge turns green when the file is inside the window. Download, then use the "Next" links for the other files.
Questions
Why three signatures?
UPSC compares them at every stage. Sign three times on one sheet of white paper, photograph it, and ExamPic cleans and stacks them into the required frame.
What date goes on the photo?
The date the photo was taken, in DD-MM-YYYY. It must fall within the 10-day window before applications open — ExamPic warns if the date you type is older.
Square or 3.5 × 4.5?
The UPSC OTR frame is close to square (commonly 350 × 350 or 400 × 400). ExamPic crops to 400 × 400 with the strip inside the frame.
